The store offers premium products, expert advice, and a fully equipped workshop providing servicing and repairs for customers across the region. As the business continues to grow, an exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and commercially minded Retail & Workshop Operations Manager to lead the operations, drive performance, and maintain the high standards associated with the globally respected STIHL brand.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the overall performance of the branch, including both the retail store and workshop. As Retail & Workshop Operations Manager, you will oversee daily operations, lead and develop the team, drive sales performance, and ensure customers consistently receive exceptional service. A key part of the role involves spending time on the shop floor supporting customers, mentoring staff, and ensuring the store environment reflects the premium standards expected of a STIHL dealership. This position suits someone with a strong commercial mindset, operational discipline, and leadership capability, who enjoys working in a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive sales growth, profitability, and stock optimisation
• Lead, coach, and develop the retail and workshop teams
• Maintain exceptional customer service aligned with the STIHL brand
• Oversee branch financial performance including budgeting and reporting
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• Manage supplier relationships and key customer accounts
• Coordinate promotional activities and in-store initiatives
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience
About You
You will succeed in this role if you are a confident leader with strong retail experience and a passion for operational excellence.
You will bring:
• Proven experience in retail management, branch management, workshop or business operations
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to analyse performance and drive results
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills
• Experience managing staff in a customer-facing environment
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
• Experience in outdoor power equipment, automotive, machinery, or trade retail is advantageous but not essential
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
