Employme Solutions is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician based in Invercargill on behalf of a leading supplier and service provider of heavy machinery and equipment
This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanically minded professional who enjoys working directly with customers, diagnosing technical issues, and keeping essential equipment operating at its best
The Role As a Field Service Technician, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of machinery and equipment at customer sites and in the workshop when required
No two days will be the same, you'll be out and about across the region, troubleshooting faults, completing scheduled maintenance, and providing reliable technical support to customers
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
- Carrying out servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs on heavy machinery and equipment
- Attending customer sites to investigate breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime
- Using diagnostic tools and technical information to identify and resolve issues efficiently
- Completing service reports, job documentation, and maintenance records accurately
- Building strong customer relationships through professional service and communication
- Maintaining a high standard of health and safety while working in the field
- Keeping up to date with product knowledge, technical developments, and training

What We're Looking For To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- Experience as a Field Service Technician, Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, or similar
- A relevant mechanical qualification in heavy automotive, plant, or equipment maintenance
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- A full driver's licence, with any additional licence requirements dependent on the equipment serviced
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
Experience working with construction equipment, earthmoving machinery, or other heavy equipment would be advantageous
Most importantly, you'll be reliable, adaptable, and passionate about delivering quality workmanship and keeping customers' operations moving
