We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well established heavy diesel and machinery service provider based in Palmerston North. They are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Field Service Technician to join their high performing team in a permanent, full time capacity.
This position offers a dynamic mix of workshop and field service work, providing autonomy, technical variety, and genuine career progression within a reputable and growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and service a wide range of heavy diesel machinery and equipment
- Perform engine rebuilds, hydraulic system repairs, electrical diagnostics, and general maintenance
- Attend on site breakdowns and manage field service calls across the Manawatū region
- Operate a fully equipped service vehicle for field assignments
- Utilise advanced diagnostic tools to minimise equipment downtime
- Collaborate with a skilled and professional team committed to quality workmanship
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working on heavy diesel, truck, construction, or agricultural machinery
- Level 4 Trade Qualification in Heavy Automotive or a related discipline
- Strong capability in hydraulics, electrical systems, and engine diagnostics
- Confidence working independently in both workshop and field environments
- Full New Zealand driver’s licence
- Professional attitude with strong problem solving skills
- Competitive hourly rate of $42 to $45 per hour, negotiable based on experience
