An established automotive business is looking for an experienced Heavy Automotive Electrician to join its team in Auckland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and capable electrician who enjoys working on heavy vehicles, diagnosing electrical faults and keeping vehicles operating safely and efficiently.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for electrical diagnostics, repairs, installations and preventative maintenance across a range of heavy automotive equipment and vehicles.
Key responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults on heavy vehicles
- Carry out electrical servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Install and maintain vehicle electrical systems and components
- Diagnose faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment
- Repair wiring, lighting, starting and charging systems
- Work with batteries, alternators, starters and associated electrical components
- Install and maintain accessories and electrical equipment
- Carry out electrical inspections and testing
- Complete work to a high standard while meeting health and safety requirements
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Provide professional and reliable service to customers and colleagues
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys solving electrical problems.
You will ideally have:
- Relevant qualification or trade certification in automotive electrical work
- Previous experience working with heavy vehicles, trucks, buses, machinery or similar equipment
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- A current New Zealand driver's licence
